ERGONOMICS

Overview

Office Ergonomics is increasingly becoming an essential consideration for employers, enabling the workforce to be more comfy; have reduced risk from musculoskeletal disorders; increase their productivity and concentration levels; reduce maintenance and associated costs; reduce absence from work and boost workplace morale.

Employees who spend most of their working day sitting at a desk and working on a computer are classed as Display Screen Equipment (DSE) users and employers have a legal obligation to protect their health. The level of health risk from using DSE equipment depends on many factors, including the type of work being carried out, the duration of use and how well the equipment is set up. According to HSE, there are currently over 470,000 workers in the UK suffering from a work-related musculoskeletal disorder.

Why Choose Us?

We pride ourselves on providing a caring, empathetic and confidential service, which in addition to addressing physical needs can also benefit the mental health of the employee by making them feel valued and supported by their employer.

As we specialise in office ergonomics and also operate within the circular economy, we would encourage the continued use of existing office seating (subject to condition and functionality) whenever possible, as well as the reallocation of any unused ergonomic chairs, rather than replacing then unnecessarily. Doing so can benefit the employer financially, the employee by supporting their wellness and the environment by saving natural resources. To support this aim we can provide the following services which are available for any task chair regardless of sophistication.

Chair Set Up & User Training

81% of UK office workers spend between four and nine hours sitting at their desks each day, equating to an average of 67 sedentary days per year.  We all work, sit and move differently and that’s why it’s important workers are seated in an office chair suitable and adjusted for them.

If an employee is having problems with an existing chair and it seems uncomfortable, not correctly adjusted, or they simply don’t understand how to use it, we can help.

We can visit at a pre-arranged time, inspect the chair and identify it’s features and functions, demonstrate the functions to the employee and then teach them to make adjustments themselves, so its as comfortable and ergonomically correct as possible.

Chair Audit & Report

This service is available to ensure employers have seating that is functioning correctly, safe and suitable for the users.
We can inspect any quantity of chairs, from a single one to every chair within any organisation, identify and test the functions of each one, attach an identification label and provide a detailed written report with findings and recommendations.

DSE Assessments

Employers must provide a DSE assessment for workers who use display screen equipment daily and continuously for an hour or more as part of their normal work. This is essentially a risk assessment that evaluates the health and safety of a workstation, the aim being to identify and reduce potential hazards to employees’ health and wellbeing.

The Comfy Workplace provides comprehensive, competitively prices DSE assessments which are supported by a report incorporating our observations and recommendations how to address any issues that we find.
